The
Greenville,Spartanburg, Anderson area is really nice with industry and businesses. The Bi-Lo center in Sparanturburg has top name concerts for music. And this is up-state SC and close to the beautiful mountains of NC, with lots of outdoors activities.I live in New York City, and would like to relocate to South Carolina with my teenage children..any advice?

My advice is that you get buy-in on the whole idea from your kids before you move - make them part of the process and try to keep them upbeat about the whole thing. I moved from Los Angeles to Nashville with my teen and her adjustment was the hardest part of the whole move - she cried every day for a month (finding the right job, home and school was a piece of cake compared to this). She loves it here now, but still 1 1/2 years later when she's having a rotten day she tells me she wants to go home and says it's all my fault she's miserable. Of course part of that is she's a teen and I don't feel guilty about moving, but I would handle the move with her differently and make her more of the process if I had it to do over.
contact the state's better business bureau call or write or e.mail ask for any information on your desire to move there...........good luck
Have you lived any place besides NYC? Obviously there will be a difference. Try not to listen to culturaly bigoted people who buy into the ';southern'; stereotypes. Of course you will find thugs, gangsters and such just like in NYC, D.C. and Philly.. But rednecks..? hmmm. Charleston is probably the most diverse city with alot of transplants and northerners moving in.
you live in the greatest city in the world and you want to live by some rednecks. My question to you is WHY???
