Hi, ok so i'm in the 10th about one semester in the grade.. and i feel like i havent been really studying through the knowledge given to me for the past 10 years -- the right way..
I Really really want to have another fresh start at high school. I Thought that if i leave the school b4 christmas vacation .. maybe i could enroll in a different school as a grade 9er ?
Now i'm positive i can do that ...
but my real question is, would it say in my records that i've failed a grade even though it was my decision to redo to take the full advntage of my 4 years in high school?
and if not would there be other downsides into doing this?
should there be some , can someone tell me what they are?
Also, would it be better if i finish the 10th year first then .. try to enroll as a 9er the next year?
(P.S I've decided i really want to go to university)
..Please be nice, i just need to know the downsides of doing this if there are any, and i promise you guys my motives are good (I'm pretty sure they are to help me ameliorate not to slack off)
.. Also, i live in Ontario, Canada.Please help, I really need some teenage *schooling* advice?
I think that you should talk to a school counselor . Redoing high school would take a lot of effort. If you are failing then just redo the current year that you are in.That would seem like a better option .Talk to the teachers. Find out what you need for the subjects that you need to do.Lots of courses require certain subjects to be studied within the higher certificate. Do your homework with unis.Ask the advice of the career couselor.Good luck.There is a light at the end of the tunnel.Please help, I really need some teenage *schooling* advice?
I will answer your question about the triangles here.
the yahoo email let me write only 400 characters.
this is your question:
What's the coordinates of the centroid P of triangle with vertices of
A (12,18), B (18,6) and C (3,12)?
.
First of all . a little definition:
A median of a triangle is a straight line through a vertex and the midpoint of the opposite side, and divides the triangle into two equal areas. The three medians intersect in a single point, the triangle's centroid.
you have to find de equation for 2 (out of 3) median.
the point where they intersect is the centroid
here we go.
1)find the midooint in each side
** midpoint point for side AB A(12,18) B(18,6) will be ([12+18]/2, [18+6]/2) = (15,12)
**midpoint for side AC A(12,18) C(3,12) will be ( [12+3]/2, [18+12]/2) = (15/2,15)
**midpoint for side BC B(18,6) C(3,12) will be ( ( 18+3)/2 , (6+12),2 ) = (21/2, 9 )
**************************************鈥?br>
now you have :
2 points for median A (from vertex A to the midpoint of side BC)
(12,18) and (21/2 , 9)
2 points for median B (from vertex B to midpoint side AC)
(18,6) and (15/2, 15)
2 points for median C (from vertex C to midpoint of side AB)
(3,12) (15,12)
now use the lineal equation : y = mx + b
y=(y1-y0)/(x1-x0) +b
for median A (12,18) and (21/2 , 9)
m=(18-9)/(12-21/2) = 9/(3/2) = 6
b= y-mx
b= 18- 6*12 = -54
the equation for median A is : y=6x - 54
for median B ( (18,6) and (7.5, 15) m= (6-15)/(18-15/2) = -9/(21/2) = - 18/21 = - 6/7
......................................鈥?y-mx
b=6 +(6/7)*18 = (42+6*18)/7=150/7
the equation for median B is : y= - (6/7)x+ 150/7
now to find the centroid solve the system: y=6x - 54
........................................鈥? y= - (6/7)x+ 150/7
x=11 y= 12
the centroid is (11,12)
just to check we'll find the median C: (3,12) (15,12)
......................................鈥?(12-12)/2, (3-15),2) = 0
......................................鈥?12
now using median A and C, we'll find the centroid.
y = 12
y=6x - 54
y=12 x=11
centroid is (11,12)
**************************************鈥?br>
mmmm I think I took the long way
this is the easy way..I just remember it..it's been a long time since I don't play with triangles
centroid fo a triangle is( [x1+x2+x3]/3 , [y1+y2+y3]/3 )
................... ( [12+18+3]/3 , [18+6+12]/3)
........................(11,12)
good luck

It does seem pretty silly to redo high school all over again.
I'm not FULLY understanding what you're saying...but if what you're saying is that you feel you haven't given it your all in school...then here's my opinion....
Just start giving it your all now. You're only in 10th grade. Your marks matter THE MOST in grade 11 and 12 because those are the years Universities/Colleges look at. And those are the years when the courses get more specific (like Science get split into Bio., Chem., Physics...etc..).
I'm in 12th grade now and high school wasn't easy. And it isn't. For anybody. So you aren't alone. Everybody struggles. I've struggled also. Last year, 11th grade, I came extremely close to failing a course. This year, I swore to myself that I would actually study for the tests and do the best that I can.
Sooo, all in all, just try your hardest and concentrate on your school work (since I can tell it's very important to you, which is good!). Don't worry too much on your marks in your 10th grade year. It's still the first semester and only half of it has gone by. You still have the chance to boost up your marks (depending on how many assignments/tests you get). If they don't, then you have the next semester to get high marks! And then you have the next two years of high school to acheive marks that you will be proud of!
So good luck to you. High school life isn't easy (nobody said it was). Just like how nobody said life was easy/fair.
Remember, a rainbow always follows a storm.
It may be a storm for you right now...but just think...you'll be seeing a rainbow any time soon :) So look forward to that moment.
You're also in my prayers.
Ok. I guess I get what you're saying, but you should not go back to redo a whole entire grade level, if you passed it. If you were meant to redo the ninth grade, you would have failed and be held back. Feel proud about yourself.
I am an 11th grader this year and went through a slightly similar situation, maybe worse. 9th grade, I was an all A student in honors courses. 10th grade, I slacked off because I was not given special or enough recognition for putting my best effort into all my work. it may seem silly, but i thought that i shouldn't have to try so hard to do a simple assignment when others BSed it or copied off of me and got the same grade. well, in the long run, all of those slackers ended up passing every class beautifully, while i almost failed English and pissed off all my teachers in the process. last year i went to a very stressful school for performers, but now i'm going to a regular school. and for this first quarter, i already have all A's again. i thought that i could never be an all A student again, but it just goes to show that you have to have that determination. that mindset.
i absolutely felt like a failure and for the first time my parents were breathing all up and down my throat. i needed to change to regain my independence and trust, so i felt it necessary to change my surroundings by transferring to a new school. this would force me to not know that many people and without the distraction of friends in a classroom, i could once again land all my focus to academics and the SAT and PSAT. also, if you are planning to go to a university or college, now, it is extremely competition; i'm still freaking out cause i'm gonna be a senior next year! it is not wise to redo a grade level with such competition. you will be lower in the spectrum of the university's view. they'll say, ';hey, he passed 9th grade, but went back to do it again. that shows that he's unsure of himself and unpredictable. we don't want him here at our school; he'll cause too much trouble...';
don't make decisions that stand out to college's in a bad way. it was just your 9th grade, and colleges/ universities love it when an individual shows progress throughout the four high school years rather than a repetition of everything that the individual felt that they could do better on. ***11th grade is actually the most important year; that's when you're not allowed to screw up. THAT'S WHY I'M SO TENSE! but you're still good, just as teachers for help in the way you study or ask them any other questions. i say keep going and the work that you're doing now, pick up the slack. you also gotta show colleges that you're ready to take on a college work load.
good luck in all that you do, and always keep God first. God bless. I'll have you in my prayers tonight. :)
