Hi, I'm a young teenage filmmaker in need of help. I've recently decided to film another picture, but there is nowhere for me to get at least remotely talented adult actors. I know some other teens that are good at acting, but all of the roles are for adults. Is there any technique that you know of that can make someone seem older?
I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!Teenage Filmmaker needs advice on making actor seem older?
It's all about the costuming and makeup. I would probably add some temporary dye to give the actor a little bit of grey hair, maybe a fake mustache and some age lines drawn around the eyes and mouth. I would also encourage him to talk with a deeper voice. The same would work for females (minus mustache, I hope). I would also highly recommend your actors doing research on the mannerisms of adults. You know, go to a place adults normally go and see how they really interact with each other. This will help them create your character. Good luck!Teenage Filmmaker needs advice on making actor seem older?
Why hire a boy to do a mans job? Register your work with a film net. let me give you an example. Do a search for New England Film and dig deep in every department to see what they have to offer. You can get registered with groups like that and it will be cheaper than investing for a makeup artist. Email me if you'd like.
Use make-up to draw in age lines and make the actors who are supposed to be younger look younger by using a foundation that is really light but hides well. And you can use baby powder to gray hair.
Cast younger actors for most of your parts. Then your teenage actor will look older.
